Practice Dashboard — We believe that every practice should be doctor-designed and staff-driven.  Once the goals, culture, and performance expectations of the practice are set (each year), our Practice Dashboard is designed to guide and assist the staff (Valued Partners™) in “managing” the practice’s performance each week.  The Practice Dashboard is a laminated wall board that is placed on the break room wall. The doctor can see at a glance the key success factors that contribute to sustaining and/or growing the practice.  The Valued Partners™ can discuss their ideas for keep the practice on target at their staff meetings.

Valued Partners™ Success Center — In a staff-driven practice the communications between the staff members and the main functional areas of the practice are essential to running a highly-effective practice.  Generally, where breakdowns occur are with the flow of information and issues between these areas of the practice.  We developed the Success Center as a laminated wall board that enables every member of the practice team to place their ideas, challenges, solutions, and thank yous on the wall.  What we know about team dynamics is that if you can get “IT” out of people’s head and up in a public venue then people are ten times more likely to address and resolve the “IT!”

Practice Communication Pads — As many of you know, communications between the doctor and the staff as well as staff-to-staff is one of the most needed areas of improvement for almost every practice and/or business in general.  A key element of our approach is to increase the communications and simplify the ability of people to put their ideas into action.  We find that too much time is wasted in unproductive conversations that focus on complaining or gossip instead of identifying what needs to happen, isolating the problem or issue, and making specific requests for action.

Generally, one of the largest barriers to implementing ideas in a practice is that we get the “IDEA” when we are busy doing something else.  When I get to a place that I can do something with the idea, I have “forgotten” what it was and who I thought should implement it!  Ever been there?  Our handy communications pads that are kept right at your workstation, in your car, or in your office at home, so when you “get the idea” you simply make a quick note on the pad about the idea. Then later, work on the idea or discuss it with those who can partner up with you on implementing it.

Results Strategy Pad — This pad is for the doctor/associate who wants to capture quickly their ideas about what they want to change or add to the practice.  It helps the doctor focus on the outcome they want to produce by the change and prioritize it into the other things that may be happening at that time.  The staff really appreciates the value of this tool because many times doctors will simply come out with ideas that they want the staff to do but don’t stop to think about the impact of what they want done on the staff.  Not that you do this, but it helps all the other doctors … A LOT!

Valued Partners™ Solutions Pad — This pad is for ideas, solutions, and actions of those individual staff members who want to bring to the practice.  All of us want to add value to our team, and we have ideas all the time!  The challenge is that most often these ideas come to us when we have our hands in someone’s mouth or while we are juggling ten things at the same time.  Being a contributor to our practice is important to us as well as feeling like we have control of solving the problems that we deal with.

Our VP Solutions pad enables you to quickly, in-the-moment capture either the problem or the idea right there at your workstation. Then later, come back to it for further development.  It helps you think through what you want to do or someone else to do.  It helps you organize your thoughts so you can more easily talk to other team members about getting your ideas into action.

Assessment Instruments and Tools for Development

Our most innovative product series is a set of practice tools which enable you to do a self-assessment to identify and understand your strengths, your dynamics, and your approach to your practice. Our assessment tools help you by asking you to go online and complete a self-assessment of your work style and preferences for interacting with others and your awareness of factors that impact your emotional intelligence. Our goal is to help you understand which of your strengths and skills to use under which circumstances. Also, which skills you do well versus the ones that you need to learn how to use more effectively.

  • Doctor Self-Assessment & 360°: Our clients find that the information and understanding they gain during this process lasts them a life time and directly impacts all interpersonal aspects of their lives. It is truly the first step to achieving a balance in life! It is a self-awareness assessment in which we use a combination of the following instruments. Each instrument is provided to you online for convenience and to minimize your time commitment to complete. The time investment is very minimal.
  • Birkman Questionnaire® or DISC® - provides an in-depth assessment of your work style, leadership dynamics, problem-solving approach, and—most importantly—your strengths, needs, and stress factors associated with the interpersonal interactions with your staff.
  • Emotional Intelligence Assessment® 360°- a self-learning process to understand how you use emotions, thoughts, and reactions in your interactions with others. You complete one on yourself (self-assessment) and each staff member completes one on you (360°). The online version takes about 7 minutes to complete, so it doesn't take long at all. We use the feedback report to provide comparative feedback between your self-assessment and your staff's assessment of your awareness and effectiveness around interpersonal dynamics.
  • Optional: Team Birkman Profile: provides an in-depth assessment of the team's work style, interpersonal dynamics, problem-solving approach, and—most importantly—team strengths, needs, and stress factors associated with the interpersonal interactions within your team.
  • Optional: If appropriate, an Associate Readiness Assessment: an online questionnaire and/or interview process that will identify potential issues and concerns about bring-in or transitioning your practice to incorporate a new doctor.
